West End Best Start Hub
Best Start Hub at St. Francis School is a one-stop centre connecting families to a wide range of services and resources. Best Start Hubs will support Home, Child Care and Schools by: a) supporting families with parenting programs and family activities; b) providing a rich learning environment; c) helping children to be ready for school, ready to learn and ready to succeed.
The centre is open to all families and promotes relationships based on equality and respect for diversity. Staff encourage mutual assistance and peer support in order to increase opportunities and to strengthen individuals, families and communities in a playgroup environment. We focus on wellness and a preventative approach.
Our centre’s program compliments existing services in the community, builds networks and linkages and advocates for policies, services and systems that support families’ abilities to raise healthy children.
We believe that parenting is a life-long learning process. We offer resources such as: referrals, parenting books, support groups and workshops that support the family’s needs.
School readiness is promoted through early literacy, early learning programs for children, parent information and training, and links to other community services.
We welcome extended family members and caregivers who are interested in promoting positive learning experiences!
